Communication is a Beautiful Thing ...

When you have completed your trial run and have had the time to sit with your makeup and hair, don’t forget that your artist would love feedback. It not only helps us nail the look you want, but it also helps us develop and grow as artists.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We understand though, how hard it is for you to request changes or give feedback. No one wants to hurt anyone’s feelings, right? Here’s the best way to give feedback to your artist :⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Start by listing all the things you do love about your look and don’t want to change. It’s all about positivity! It’s sets the tone for the rest of the conversation and let’s the artist know, you’re still into her. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Next, let your artist know about the little things that you either want to refine, change, or remove. This could be adding more liner to the bottom of your lid, switching to brown liner instead of black, or using only lipstick and forgoing the gloss on top. You’d be surprised to know how often the minor changes are requested - it’s pretty much a norm for your artist and she will expect these types of changes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Lastly, finish with the items that didn’t work out. This is where it gets tough for anyone! The trick here is not too place blame, e.g. “Did you set my skin enough at the end?” or “Did you use enough glue on my false lashes?”. Instead, approach the items you wish to change with an openness to resolve or correct the issue TOGETHER.

Try rephrasing your requests in a collaborative manner:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“I found that the foundation started to crease by midday. Do you think we should try a different foundation or product to prevent this?”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“The lashes you used were perfect but they began to lift at the corners. I will be using eyedrops throughout the day, do you think we can apply some more glue?”See the difference? It’s all about communication!Hope these tips allow you to have the best wedding day filled with confidence in your makeup and hair!”
