If I Were Taylor Swift, I'd be Wearing ...

Taylor-polaroid By Siobhan B., BlushPretty Intern

Taylor Swift is internationally known as a style and fashion icon with a gorgeous voice and talent flowing from her guitar.

Her album “Fearless” hit number one this past year and all of her shows were sold out. Now I personally don’t like her music at all, but let’s face it … this girl is smokin’ hot.

Often seen as the nice girl, Taylor Swift’s makeup is often very glittery and romantic. She looks like a Barbie Doll, or a fairy princess, with her perfect complexion and gorgeous cheek bones. This look completely matches her good girl image, but Taylor also sports another classic look: the smokey eye. This look is always a hit and unlike Taylor’s music, will be around for years to come as a beautiful statement (sorry TS fans, I had to).

Seriously though, Taylor does pull of a stunning smoky eye. Lots of browns and neutral colours give her a classic glamourous look. If you throw in some glitter and pastel colours along with than BAM, you’re a Taylor Swift look-alike.

Wanna re-create Taylor Swift’s look? Here are five products that will help you get the job done and have people confusing you for the country pop star herself.

The BlushPretty Five: Amelia Tang (it's also Meet My Interns, Pt. 4)

Amelia-Tang The BlushPretty Five: Amelia Tang

Editor's Note: Amelia is the fourth BlushPretty Intern.  I missed posting her answer to The BlushPretty Five and Meet My Interns segments before the holidays ... but really ... its never too late!

Name: Amelia Tang
Age: 20
Occupation: Student, BlushPretty Intern
Share three random things about yourself: I am kind of talkative and sometimes when I am so excited I am kind of loud; I love children and dogs so much ...; I am energetic and love makeup!

And now the questions ...

1.  You woke up late and have ten minutes to get ready and out the door.  What is the beauty routine and list the products you would use.

1) I brush my teeth
2) Wash my face with The Body Shop Vitamin E Daily Cleanser
3) Apply a toner (Estee Lauder)
5) Apply Lanagie UV Total Base SPF40 PA++ (it contains sunscreen, makeup base, and foundation)
6) Get dress and leave home immediately

**P.S. I will bring some make up product in my handbag everyday, so I will apply other make up later***

2.  You have ten dollars to spend on beauty product with no coupon to spare nor membership points to redeem.  What would you buy and from where?

I will spend ten dollars on Almay One Coat Triple Effect Mascara because their mascara is not really expensive, and it makes my eyelashes look long and natural.

3.  You got sixty dollars to spend on beauty product without a care and anywhere you please.  What would you buy and from where?

I would buy the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair because it is a nice product that repairs the environmental damage we did throughout the day.  It also prepares your face for better skin in the future. The reason I would spend money on skin care product rather than on a makeup product is because I totally believe that we need nice skin to apply makeup.

4.  Share with us your biggest beauty secret – either a hot tip for us to try ... or your worst beauty disaster ever.  Which one will it be?

My biggest beauty secret is that I drink a glass of lemon juice with honey everyday since I turned 18 years old because I read in a newspaper one day that lemon juice with honey acts like an anti-oxidant for our organs and keeps our skin looking fresh. Also, another beauty secret is that I will use the hair dryer to heat the my eyelash curler to make my lashes curl.

5.  Name your poison. Facials worth more than your rent payment, a $2.99 bottle of nail polish that everyone mistakes for Chanel’s latest colour. What’s your guilty beauty pleasure?
I will spend the most money on any skin care product so that I could keep my skin youthful all the time - as I said before I believe we need nice skin.

If I Were Jennifer Aniston, I'd be Wearing ...

Jennifer-Aniston By Christine Wilson, BlushPretty Intern

We all know Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green from the hit show Friends.

Even back then her style was well known and desired by all women. Her most famous look was the Rachel Green haircut. Everywhere you would look you would see women wearing this specialty hair style. Since then she has become an even bigger style icon and her look has become more modern.  Today, whether it’s on the red carpet or doing some errands, her look screams natural beauty. From her sun kissed, golden skin to her bight, look-at-me eyes, she pulls off this look with perfection.

To recreate this classic natural look you need to focus on five different aspects, foundation, bronzer, blush, eyes, and lips. The foundation should give your skin a glowing appearance while still giving complete coverage. Once you have the perfect background, apply a bronzer to all the places on your face that the sun would hit to complete the sun kissed look. The right blush can open up any face and a light pink blush will give your look a natural rosiness.  When applying the eye shadow remember neutral coolers are always the best but pastel coolers are allowed. To brighten the eyes and make them appear bigger, apply a shimmer highlight to the brow bone and blend into the rest of the shadows. To complete the eyes, draw eyeliner to the top eye only and  brush on mascara. Finally for the lips you can just apply neutral pink lipstick or a little bit of natural coloured gloss.

And there you have it, a natural look with a beautiful glow.

Five Products to Help You Get Her Look!

1.  Illuminating Liquid Foundation by Stila.  Sheer to medium coverage and it allows the skin's natural glow to shine through.  Available in 8 shades.  Approximately $38.

2.  Bronzer Powder with SPF 15 by Sephora.  Allows you to have a sunkissed look while protecting you from harmful UV rays.  Available in 4 shades.  Approximately $16.

3.  Blush by Quo.  Gives your skin a shimmery texture.  Available in 8 shades.

4.  Trio Eye Shadow by Annabelle. Check out Cream Caramel.  3 complimentary colours per compact - so easy to use.  Approximately $7.25.

5.  Maniac Long Wearing Lipstick by Sephora.  It keeps lips hydrated all day and night.  Try it in Neutral Beige Cream or Tawny Beige Pink Cream. Approximately $12.00.

Try it Out!

Meet My Interns Pt. 3

Amanda Interns make everything easier.

They help get things done. They help make tedious tasks not so tedious.  They are just good people.

I'm so happy to introduce you to the third of my four interns!

Name:Amanda McGhie
Age: 19
Occupation: Intern at BlushPretty, student
Share three random things about yourself: Adventurous, Hardworking and Committed

And now the questions ...

1.  You woke up late and have ten minutes to get ready and out the door.  What is the beauty routine and list the products you would use.

This has happened to me before! When I was caught in this situation, I quickly applied my foundation, powder eyeliner, a little bit of blush and some lip gloss. I had a natural look that I was comfortable with.

2.  You have ten dollars to spend on beauty product with no coupon to spare nor membership points to redeem.  What would you buy and from where?

I would shop at Walmart and I would by an eye liner and a lip gloss.

3.  You got sixty dollars to spend on beauty product without a care and anywhere you please.  What would you buy and from where?

I would go to Sephora and buy foundation, powder, an eye shadow pallet and mascara because they normally have reasonable prices and sometimes they will have promotions.

4.  Share with us your biggest beauty secret – either a hot tip for us to try ... or your worst beauty disaster ever.  Which one will it be?

Every girl has that moment where she thinks she is big enough to go to a cosmetics store and buy her own foundation. Well, sometimes it best to go with your mom or someone who has been wearing makeup longer than you have because when you think the colour you chose matches your skin complexion, it might take a camera at a wedding to tell you otherwise... !

5.  Name your poison. Facials worth more than your rent payment, a $2.99 bottle of nail polish that everyone mistakes for Chanel’s latest colour. What’s your guilty beauty pleasure?

I would go and get a pedicure in the dead of winter because its always nice to pamper yourself when you get the chance. Word to the wise, make sure you have a ride home even if you are only walking from the salon to your car ...
