the green scene: korres quercetin and oak antiageing & antiwrinkle night cream

Korres

It's Friday!

And it's also the end of January 2012 (almost): the temperature has dropped a bit since those warmer days we (actually, you because I wasn't here in December, but I heard it was) had in December; the wind has a bit of a bite to it; and your lips and skin are chapped and dry beyond repair. Or so you thought ...

A really easy way to winter-proof your skin is to up the stakes on your moisturizer/cream routine. I'm talking a full out, extra helping, liberal slather of your daily moisturizer. But do you want to know what works better than that: investing in a heavier cream during the winter months.

I had the opportunity recently to test out Korres Quercetin and Oak Antiageing and Antiwrinkle Night Cream and also, the Eye Cream. I jumped on the chance actually given that for the past year or so I've taken a very keen interest in greener and cleaner skincare and colour products.  Korres fits the bill and is very welcome at my vanity table because let's face it - finding truly clean products that are quality as well - is quite difficult.

I'm totally feeling this night cream. While it is thick and luxurious in texture, it goes on smooth and not greasy. It absorbs quickly and the skin is left very soft to the touch once applied. After a good night's sleep, my skin still feels radiant and hydrated in the morning. Since I tend to have oilier skin, I used to be wary of thick "night" creams thinking that by morning I would resemble a greasy pan.  Not the case with Korres.  (Add 2 bonus points!)

Special thanks to it's main ingredient, quercetin and oak, this night cream is a "clincally proven natural alternative to Retinol" meaning that continual use would assist in minimizing the signs of ageing such as premature wrinkling and sagging (who wants to sag, right?).

If I have already hooked you on investing in this night cream you may also want to check out the complimentary Quercetin and Oak Eye Cream and also, Korres Wild Rose Face and Eye Serum. While I have not tested either of two products as extensively as I have the face cream, I do appreciate the lighter texture of the Wild Rose Face and Eye Serum. If you can get in the habit of using your night cream for night only, the serum makes for a great daytime moisturizer. It has a very light scent to it and the texture is even lighter. It disappears into the skin almost instantly, making it a great base for your makeup.

Korres is available at Sephora and also, Select Shoppers Drug Mart (I can see my Optimum Points soaring higher and higher as I type this).

  • ... January 31, 2012 End of January 2012 already? Say what?! Now that we are in the midst of winter, albeit warm and actually quite nice out, I'm in a stage of wearing minimal makeup in order to keep my face looking fresh and clean and opposed to dry and cracked. First, I used plenty of moisturizer to hydrate the skin and once that has sunk in, I applied a selection of Bobbi Brown concealers to the under eye area and around the nose, chin and cheeks to minimize dark circles and redness. Blend blend blend. Then I rubbed in some Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Pale Pink to the cheeks and dotted some onto the lips as well. I topped it off with Bobbi Brown lip gloss in Citrus - a new electric orange gloss from the new Neon and Nudes line. - Stephanie, Ms. BlushPretty

  • … Ardell Half Lashes in 301 and 305 I used to be a big fan of building up the outer lash area using single clusters ... but as of late, it's Ardell's 301 and 305 that sends my brides' (and mine) heart flutter. Using these lashes, I think, gives the exaggeration of a full strip, but the natural "I was born with these lashes" feel. Lash trick: give the glue about 5 to 8 seconds to get tacky before applying to the lash line! - Stephanie, Ms. BlushPretty

  • ... Revlon Illuminance Crème Shadow? This cream based eyeshadow is not like your average eyeshadow. Normally, if you don’t prime your eyes before applying eyeshadow, it can slide right off - leaving little to no product left on the eye. (What's the point then, right?) This cream eyeshadow doesn't disappear or slip or slide, at all. (Yay!) It comes in packs of four different colors but they all go great together. The one that I bought is a nude/neutral set and when I use all the colors together it gives me a natural looking finish. - Alanna D., the intern

I needed to buy a new concealer and I just so happened to be looking around in The Body Shop when the saleslady walked up to me and asked me if I needed help - andof course, being the talkative person that I am - I told her I was looking for a new concealer. She recommended their Pencil Concealer that I have now used every day since making the purchase. It is by far my favourite concealer; it covers any imperfections without looking to overdone or covered up. - Alanna D., the intern

  • ... Medium Shopping Bag Makeup Palette from Sephora. I picked up this small palette of makeup from Sephora during the holidays and it is amazing! It comes with 33 eyeshadows, 12 lipsticks, 4 blushes, and 2 bronzers. When I first bought it, I immediately went home to use the lipstick colors. I mixed a few of them together and ended up with a gorgeous pinkish color with a hint of purple. There are so many colors to choose from to mix and match so the possibilities are endless! - Alanna D., the intern
