the good, the bad, the pretty ...

This post concludes the end of The Beauty Board reviews. (I heard that "Finally!!" your eyes just rolled).

But a great and successful event is only as good as the reviews it gets, so here are some reviews of the event itself ... the good, the bad, the pretty (really it should be "the ugly", but there is really nothing ugly about the event or my guests.)

I want to thank all my guests for their support and encouragement of The Beauty Board and I am looking forward to seeing them, and of course some new faces, for the next The Beauty Board in October 2010!

Take a deep breath ...

"Loved reviewing products & getting free samples. I was happy to find the Consonant Body brand." - Rowena

Awesome event. It's great there is a forum such as The Beauty Board to allow the consumer to be able to try on items prior to purchasing." - Maureen

"LOVED IT! really enjoyed trying the different companies I would not have tried otherwise. I only wish there were more applicators to try the products on ... also, wipes or access to a closer sink." -  Mabel

"Really fun and fabulous event Stephanie! All the brand reps were so sweet and really informed. It was so nice to meet them! Thanks again." - Brooke

"I had a great time. My only complaint was too many products - I started to get confused! I loved my makeup demo and received great info." - Leslie

What a fantastic event! I HAD SO MUCH FUN!" - Kathy

"LOVED the prizes & swag." - Mary

"It was fun ... it was great to be able to sample all the products. Maybe play some music to set some ambiance." - Marie

Thanks Stephanie for hosting another awesome event. I know that my friend, Nina really liked it and picked up some great products! (And of course, I did too!) Glad to see some additional vendors as well ... I love Dalish and the Cake Beauty products ... The vendors are always so knowledgeable about the products." - Paula

"I found out about products that I had never heard of, but would buy .. actually, WILL buy. What would have been great is to have a list of where we could get these products!" - Leslie

"Great experience to test and try new and existing product. Great that it promoted Canadian businesses. Tables should be numbered and correspond with paper and numbers and labelling the products "A" or "B"." - Yvette

"I LOVE THE BEAUTY BOARD. Fabulous people paired with fabulous products - add on the fabulous food, drinks and goodies - AMAZING! Loved every moment, although my wallet is suffering - I wanted to buy everything. Thank you Ms. BlushPretty!" - Meredith

"It was great! Loved it! Lots of great products!" - Ruth

"A really fun and educational event. The product testing and review is great but I wished there was better organization in how long to spend at a table. There should be numbers at each table and then people assigned a number and then rotate the flow of people ... Food was great too! More fruits next time please!" - Kimberly

"It was a very fun girls night out! Yummy snacks. Fun and great to try the products. Great samples and LOVED getting my nails done." - Kara

"Great idea! Great way to learn about and try products! ... Just a little extra for ambiance - some cool music!" - Lauren

  • ... January 31, 2012 End of January 2012 already? Say what?! Now that we are in the midst of winter, albeit warm and actually quite nice out, I'm in a stage of wearing minimal makeup in order to keep my face looking fresh and clean and opposed to dry and cracked. First, I used plenty of moisturizer to hydrate the skin and once that has sunk in, I applied a selection of Bobbi Brown concealers to the under eye area and around the nose, chin and cheeks to minimize dark circles and redness. Blend blend blend. Then I rubbed in some Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Pale Pink to the cheeks and dotted some onto the lips as well. I topped it off with Bobbi Brown lip gloss in Citrus - a new electric orange gloss from the new Neon and Nudes line. - Stephanie, Ms. BlushPretty

  • … Ardell Half Lashes in 301 and 305 I used to be a big fan of building up the outer lash area using single clusters ... but as of late, it's Ardell's 301 and 305 that sends my brides' (and mine) heart flutter. Using these lashes, I think, gives the exaggeration of a full strip, but the natural "I was born with these lashes" feel. Lash trick: give the glue about 5 to 8 seconds to get tacky before applying to the lash line! - Stephanie, Ms. BlushPretty

So cheers to you ... to Tuesdays and Thursdays ... and to a fatter wallet by year end! - Stephanie, Ms. BlushPretty

  • ... Revlon Illuminance Crème Shadow? This cream based eyeshadow is not like your average eyeshadow. Normally, if you don’t prime your eyes before applying eyeshadow, it can slide right off - leaving little to no product left on the eye. (What's the point then, right?) This cream eyeshadow doesn't disappear or slip or slide, at all. (Yay!) It comes in packs of four different colors but they all go great together. The one that I bought is a nude/neutral set and when I use all the colors together it gives me a natural looking finish. - Alanna D., the intern

  • ... Pencil Concealer from the Body Shop. I needed to buy a new concealer and I just so happened to be looking around in The Body Shop when the saleslady walked up to me and asked me if I needed help - andof course, being the talkative person that I am - I told her I was looking for a new concealer. She recommended their Pencil Concealer that I have now used every day since making the purchase. It is by far my favourite concealer; it covers any imperfections without looking to overdone or covered up. - Alanna D., the intern

  • ... Medium Shopping Bag Makeup Palette from Sephora. I picked up this small palette of makeup from Sephora during the holidays and it is amazing! It comes with 33 eyeshadows, 12 lipsticks, 4 blushes, and 2 bronzers. When I first bought it, I immediately went home to use the lipstick colors. I mixed a few of them together and ended up with a gorgeous pinkish color with a hint of purple. There are so many colors to choose from to mix and match so the possibilities are endless! - Alanna D., the intern
