Love It: BlushPretty Beauty Board

Demos Meredith and Lori - the smokey eye demo

It's okay to be a little biased.

Maybe it isn't ... but today, I make the exception.

Even though Beauty Boarders were busy with reviewing all the great product they still had time to say some fresh. beautiful things about BlushPretty and the Beauty Board.

To everyone who came out that night to support the event - THANK YOU!  Couldn't have done it without you.  Reading your reviews that were filled with appreciation, encouragement and constructive feedback only makes me want to make the next Beauty Board better, more fun, and filled with more beauty.

So again ... THANK YOU!

(P.S.  I did include one so-so review ... it was the only one - honestly!)

Reviews:

Awesome. It's great that there's an event where we can try beauty items before actually purchasing them.  And its not pretentious.  It's very encouraging and welcoming. – Maureen P.

Thank you so much for organizing this event!  I had a really great night and I learned a lot.  I will definitely recommend a night like this to my friends if I am in town again!  – Ayla F.

Definitely something I would do again.  I'm not a beauty guru, so this beauty board definitely helped.  I learned a lot.  I know my friends would love it too.  P.S. Food and drinks were good! Yum! !– Melissa D.

I LOVE BEAUTY BOARD!  Where else can you try product for free before making a fully informed decision? - Lori S.

Great opportunity to try products and share tips. - Anny S.

Beauty Board is great to try out products that you can't try at the drugstores.  I liked the addition of DaLish because its a brand not available at the stores I can easily get to.  I've checked out the website but am hesitant to buy without being able to try it out before committing.  I think it's a great idea to have companies with a rep to explain their products. – Alysia I..

Love Love Love! Fabulous evening.  What an amazing opportunity to try all of the products, talk over the benefits and hear feedback.  I have so many new things to try and can't wait!!  Thank you so much Stephanie - tonight was wonderful! – Meredith S.

I really enjoyed this event.  Yummy food and drinks; great samples.  Would also be interested in trying brands that are higher end! – Leigh C.

Fun!  Very elaborate with drinks, food - all on top of the free samples and bags of stuff! – Anita M.

Great space! (the Centre for Social Innovation) Beautiful setup including cookies, cute bags, nice signs.  Loved the email updates leading up to the big day! Two suggestions: standing mirrors and handwipes. – Denise W.

Great to be able to sample the products and learn tips from the company reps. Great to meet the women who have tried products and get their feedback and recommendations.  Love the feel of the event - interactive and superfriendly.  Thank you Stephanie.  – Natasha B

Great stuff Steph!  I loved sampling all the products and it was great way to spend a girls night out! – Dara F.

This is the 2nd event I attended.  In this event, I get to talk to professionals and learn more about skincare product and natural cosmetic items.  It is a great experience to try different types of products.  It was a fun event and am looking forward to attending the 3rd one!  Congratulations BlushPretty! – Joy K.

Great idea!  Sort of like a market research "focus group" but without the sales pitch.  Looking forward to the next one!  – Monica D.

Great stuff!  I can't wait for the next one!- Kathy C.

The Beauty Board is great.  It is nice to learn about the products and to try them!  Great Work Stephanie! - Jasmine S.

Nice relaxed environment; great giveaways; informative; FUN! - Alison C.

I had a great time!  I love being able to try out products and have people show me how to use them - that's key!  I like the casual atmosphere.  Awesome food! Super excited for the goody bag! - Alice L.

And for the "not bad but not good either" review ... with my explanations/excuses ... of course!

It is a fun idea, but I wish there was a larger space and more booths.  There could also be more instructional stations and testers available. (Beauty Board is meant to be an intimate event rather than a trade show - though we may go slightly bigger next time. :)  With respect to testers and instructional stations we did our best and as the event grows - so will these areas We are very thankful and appreciative of the brands and companies that provided all the full size goodies for the testing and gift bags. I only placed 2 -3 of each product out for testing at the actual event, but that allowed for everyone to walk away with full size product to bring home and try over the longterm.)  Having people talk about their products, i.e. Dermaglow, without even a small tester or a more interactive demonstration just feels like a sales pitch. (dermaglow provided a full size sample of their Hydration Fix serum, priced at $40 in each of the gift bags and answered questions about products that were not showcased at Beauty Board) Love the free testers of COVERGIRL and the cute cookies.  (SO DO WE!!  Shout out to Tara A from P&G and to Melanie P. of www.hermelanieways.com for the sweet treat!) Oh and champagne and wine would have been a lot of fun too ... (We had a bartender at the event who was stocked with sangria, wines, and mixed liquors waiting to take orders at the bar ... okay - so we dropped the ball on the champagne ... next time promise! ...)  - Anon. (actually, I know who it is, but it would be best left unsaid ... right?!?!!?!)

  • ... January 31, 2012 End of January 2012 already? Say what?! Now that we are in the midst of winter, albeit warm and actually quite nice out, I'm in a stage of wearing minimal makeup in order to keep my face looking fresh and clean and opposed to dry and cracked. First, I used plenty of moisturizer to hydrate the skin and once that has sunk in, I applied a selection of Bobbi Brown concealers to the under eye area and around the nose, chin and cheeks to minimize dark circles and redness. Blend blend blend. Then I rubbed in some Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Pale Pink to the cheeks and dotted some onto the lips as well. I topped it off with Bobbi Brown lip gloss in Citrus - a new electric orange gloss from the new Neon and Nudes line. - Stephanie, Ms. BlushPretty

  • … Ardell Half Lashes in 301 and 305 I used to be a big fan of building up the outer lash area using single clusters ... but as of late, it's Ardell's 301 and 305 that sends my brides' (and mine) heart flutter. Using these lashes, I think, gives the exaggeration of a full strip, but the natural "I was born with these lashes" feel. Lash trick: give the glue about 5 to 8 seconds to get tacky before applying to the lash line! - Stephanie, Ms. BlushPretty

did you know ...

  • … that BlushPretty will be bringing to you beauty on a budget this year? Yep. You heard me right. And yes. We are! This February 2012 will be the start of Treat Yourself Tuesdays and Treat Me Nice Thursdays. Each and every Tuesday, The Blush Boutique will have a can't be beat promotion on our curated selection of must-have beauty products. Think BOGO deals or items at up to 40% off. Sweet, right? And on Thursdays, let's chat about getting pretty - every Thursday, make an appointment at the studio to get your brows groomed at 50% off. Such a steal. So cheers to you ... to Tuesdays and Thursdays ... and to a fatter wallet by year end! - Stephanie, Ms. BlushPretty

  • ... Revlon Illuminance Crème Shadow? This cream based eyeshadow is not like your average eyeshadow. Normally, if you don’t prime your eyes before applying eyeshadow, it can slide right off - leaving little to no product left on the eye. (What's the point then, right?) This cream eyeshadow doesn't disappear or slip or slide, at all. (Yay!) It comes in packs of four different colors but they all go great together. The one that I bought is a nude/neutral set and when I use all the colors together it gives me a natural looking finish. - Alanna D., the intern

  • ... Pencil Concealer from the Body Shop. I needed to buy a new concealer and I just so happened to be looking around in The Body Shop when the saleslady walked up to me and asked me if I needed help - andof course, being the talkative person that I am - I told her I was looking for a new concealer. She recommended their Pencil Concealer that I have now used every day since making the purchase. It is by far my favourite concealer; it covers any imperfections without looking to overdone or covered up. - Alanna D., the intern

  • ... Medium Shopping Bag Makeup Palette from Sephora. I picked up this small palette of makeup from Sephora during the holidays and it is amazing! It comes with 33 eyeshadows, 12 lipsticks, 4 blushes, and 2 bronzers. When I first bought it, I immediately went home to use the lipstick colors. I mixed a few of them together and ended up with a gorgeous pinkish color with a hint of purple. There are so many colors to choose from to mix and match so the possibilities are endless! - Alanna D., the intern
