Shiny Happy People
One of the biggest concerns brides have on the day of their wedding is the fight against shine. Whether they have naturally oily skin or not ... brides want to make sure their face and makeup stands up against the stress of the day, the heat, and their nervous sweat.
I always recommend that brides invest in either blotting papers or a translucent pressed powder and fluffy powder brush for their wedding day. Touching up the skin doesn't take long and you can do it without a mirror.
Brides who aren't too oily, but still want to keep the skin matte and fresh, can use blotting papers. Make sure the blotting papers you choose will only remove oil and not your makeup. You'll also want to make sure that the papers are NOT the kind that leave a powdery residue behind. To blot, don't smear the paper over your face - you'll smear your makeup - but instead dab. press the paper against the shiny parts, and then lift away from the skin. Doing this over the t-zone is usually enough.
If you tend to have oily skin, which can break down your makeup, a pressed powder is the way to go. A pressed powder will keep the shine away, but it will also give a bit more coverage in case your makeup has slipped a bit. You'll want to find a translucent powder that is closest to your skintone (they usually come in fair, light, medium and dark) and then pick up a big fluffy powder brush. Do not use the puff or sponge that comes with the compact. Sweep the brush over the powder and then buff the skin with the powder. You want to move lightly in a circular motion over the face. Follow up with dusting a bit of extra powder where you are most shiny. Using the brush as opposed to the sponge will ensure an even and well blended veil of powder.
There you go. A happy but not so shiny bride.
