Bioderma Sensibio H2O

Bioderma-ImageRemoving your makeup every night before bed is a b*tch ...

But it should also be a habit.  I am a repeat offender ... I have been known to hit the hay without washing my face ... but I do try NOT to let that happen often.  I keep an army of products at the ready to make sure I take it all off: baby wipes, soap, facial cleanser, etc.

But during a midnight trip to Shoppers Drug Mart, I came across a big bottle of water ... well, it looked like water ... expensive water at that since it was priced at $30. When I picked up the pseudo-water bottle I realized it was more than that! It was Bioderma Sensibio H20 - a water based facial cleanser and makeup remover.  I was intrigued ... but not sold.  And that's when the saleslady chimed in ...

"it's all the rage in europe", "the bottle will last you lifetime", "it removes the heaviest of makeup with ease"

And with that, the beauty addict inside of me crumbled like the spineless weakling it is and I gave in to the hype [can you say pushover??].  I headed home with a $30 bottle of water.

Me being weak and easily persuaded aside ... its actually REALLY GOOD!  Fragrance free and alcohol free, I do NOT smell like a pharmacy when I go to bed. Quite gentle, it's doesn't leave my skin dry, tight or itchy.  It's really easy to use - you just soak a cotton pad and wipe it over the face.  You don't need water, but you will need to dab your skin with a dry towel after use.  When I'm done, my skin does feel clean and refreshed.  BONUS: it comes in formulas, sensitive and oily/combination.

I like the product mainly because it does remove every single trace of my makeup with just one cotton pad.  Plus, it doesn't require water, so I can soak the cotton pad and swipe it over my face while I'm walking around my home doing other things - it's multitask friendly!

The downfall to this product?  Well, definitely its pricetag of $30.  It's more a "want" than a "need" at that price.  Also, it's not portable.  At least not at the 500 ml.  They do have a 125 ml bottle, but I didn't see that available at Shoppers Drug Mart.  And I surely won't be going back there anytime soon to check ... that Saleslady sure knows how to work me!

That stuff is awesome! I have the smaller bottle. Its also great for minor mistakes & you don't want to remove all your makeup. Only downfall it doesn't completely take off all my mascara but does remove other makeup well.

This sounds quite interesting. I must try! I am one of those lazy people who want to find the quickest way to remove makeup. I may have the same problem as Monica with the removal of mascara. The mascara that I use is super-waterproof but I wouldn't mind using this product to remove everything else.

I used to try this kind of water, but not this one It seems great :)

on this day i wore ...

  • August 31, 2010 – I wore Smashbox Photo Finish Primer under some spot concealing with Stila's Cover Up Stick in D and then a dusting of Josie Maran Powder. I filled in my brows with Benefit Cosmetics Instant Brow Pencil, using feather like strokes but then blending with the spooly-thing on the other end of the pencil. I blended some Philosophy Lit from Within cream blush over the cheeks and slicked on a bit of Rosebud Salve (the new TUBE version) on the lips. Of course, there was some mascara used as well!

my brides are wearing ...

  • … COVERGIRL LashBlast Length Mascara This mascara is great for lengthening and separating lashes, so my brides are all wearing it for a fuller, lusher looking lash line. The thin brush is perfect for really getting into the tiny areas, but also for a less clumpy application. Since this is a lengthening mascara, I tend to coat the lashes with one or two layers, and then if the bride needs it, I will top if off with a coat or two of COVERGIRLS LashBlast Luxe for volume and shine. Bride's love their lashes!

did you know ...

  • … about the tap.press.sweep. system? Forget just dotting on your moisturizer and patting it on in two seconds. Your face and skin is way more important to you than that, right? Consider nourishing and nurturing your skin by adopting a facial massage. Straight from Olay Celebrity Facialist, Anastasia Achilleos, try the tap, press, sweep system that takes only a second longer to apply your moisturizer or serum. Tap. Warm some product on the fingertips and tap the product on from forehead to decolletage to stimulate the skin. Press. Using the fingertips and a press and slide motion, press at the forehead, slide to the temples, press, slide to in the inner eye and bridge of nose, press, slide out to the jaw, press, slide to the chin, press, slide down the neck and out to the shoulders, press. This will push the product deeper and plump up fine lines. Sweep. Add a bit more product to the hands and use them in a gentle massage and sweep motion all over the face, over the neck and across the decolletage. Ta-da. You're done. This takes only a minute to do and your skin will thank you!

have you tried ...

  • ... Smashbox PhotoFinish Primers? This is truly a cult fave - an oldie but goody - a tried and true friend ... and for good reason ... it works! This silky primer makes for a great base for makeup. Just a dot or two of this spread evenly over the face allows makeup to glide easily over fine lines, pores and other imperfections. PLUS your makeup will stay on longer and the colour stays true. Tip: use this product WITHOUT makeup. If I need to hit the gym or grocery store quickly without the need to doll up, I apply Photo Finish to a clean face and after moisturizer for a polished, matte face. My skin looks totally presentable so I can avoid any "oh crap, I can't believe I saw so and so and I look like death" kinda moments. That's really important! :)

i just can't live without my ...

  • ... Kevin Murphy Maxi.Wash. Never has my hair felt so clean after a wash and so light. Back in August, I had the opportunity to have a special Kevin Murphy treatment done at Blonde Salon and instantly fell in love with the product. Since I'm only a 3 times a week washer, the Maxi.Wash gets rid of all that in between build-up in an instant. It's unbelievable. It's an all-natural, sustainable product that detoxifies the hair and purifies an oily and flaky scalp. Pair this up with the Born.Again Treatment and your hair will be healthier than ever! You can pick up Kevin Murphy products at popular salons in the Toronto area, including Blonde (Power Street) and Fuss Hair Studio (Leslieville).

and i just bought ...

  • I recently went on a lipstick rampage ... again ... anyway I picked up ... Burberry Beauty Satin Lip Cover in Heather Rose. It's like my lip colour but better. It's an everyday lipstick that looks good with anything I do - rosy cheeks, smokey eyes, heavy liner. It feels like nothing on ... nothing. It's neither drying or heavy and my lips feel soft all day. Amazing texture and a range of colours to choose from. Love the magnetic casing with the Burberry check. Totally chic. Available at Holt Renfrew on Bloor (in Toronto) for just over $30 CDN. (Definitely considering going back for a few more colours.)
