The New Updo
Makeup and Hair by Stephanie Daga
(though I think I haven't done her makeup yet in this shot!)
I consider it the "new black" of weddings (or should I say the "new white"?)
It's not uncommon for brides to ask for the following "I want long loose curls, half up, half down with tendrils in the front" [or with sideswept bangs take your pick]. It's a great look, very pretty and princess like, and dreamy - no wonder they love it.
But blushpretty brides also choose this style because they fear that an updo looks to traditional, severe and dated.
Not anymore.
My new favourite do is the updo that barely looks like an updo. It's effortless chic. It's totally sexy. There is no bun. No complicated twist. No super sleek flip.
For the look above, all I did was curl sections of hair, varying from one inch to two inch, around the barrel of a curling iron. I pinned pieces toward the nape of the neck until I reached the crown, where, I started to tease the curled section to create the height and then pinned. For the front the of hair, I curled, teased and then ran my fingers through the section, spraying into place and then pinning loosely to secure. It's a really easy look ... and the profile is nice. The key: keeping volume everywhere!
So how popular is this look? Two of the bridesmaids from the bridal party brought me the exact same inspiration picture. :)

I have to say that this new updo is very stunning!
