Try it Out Tuesday: Volume like Captain Ka-Pow
Video Directed by Justin Borja of Black Suits & Broken Hearts .
You might be wondering why I posted such an odd video on a blushpretty.com, a beauty website.
Well, right of the bat, I want you to click over to Doritos and vote for Justin's (and my three brothers) entry for the Doritos Guru contest. And the second reason I posted the video is because I wanted to show how unfair life is, when boys like Captain Kapow get such desirable hair ... wait a second, let me clarify that ... his hairstyle isn't all that great ... but that natural volume ... Ka-POW!
To get volume like Captain Kapow's here are a couple of tips:
* Invest in a volumnizing spray or mousse to use prior to styling. Apply the product to your roots before styling for shape and control.
* Use hot rollers or jumbo size rollers. Placing large rollers strategically around the crown while styling (or heat drying if you are using velcro or non-heat rollers) will provide extra lift at the root.
* Your hair dryer is your best friend so use it. A classic trick is to blow dry your hair upside down - once you flip that hair back over you'll get double the volume.
* Teasing and backcombing. Lightly teasing the hair with a teasing or tail comb can give you height for updos and ponytails. Backcomb around the layers underneath the crown and smooth the top layers over it.
These tricks are a great start to getting the lift and height you need. As always, to prevent your volume from falling flat, mist your style with a bit of hairspray.
Best of luck with the tricks ... and best of luck to Justin and the Daga Brothers in the Dorito Gurus challenge!
