I'm very happy to start off the weekend with another BlushTube Video. This video happened on a whim ... a local photographer asked me to do make-up for a photoshoot he was doing, so he and the model dropped by my studio early Sunday morning. When I found out that they wanted to do a smokey eye and fake lashes, I thought it would be something my readers would like to see done from start to finish. Again, I have to thank the talented Justin Borja for filming and editing this great video!
The make-up style is quite timely, with colder weather and a current trend return to glam make-up - heavier make-up is making a comeback. Every girl loves a smokey eye ... but the allure of fake lashes is even better. For this weekend's shopping list, here are three of my must have products for a sexy and smokey eye!
MAC Studio Mist Foundation. A dramatic eye, especially a dark one, looks best on a flawless canvas. Start with foundation and make it flawless. Studio Mist is lightweight but you can layer it to your desired coverage. Works with most skintypes.
MAC Eyeshadows in Idol Eyes and Black Tied. A matte or satin black eyeshadow is great for shading the lid, but I like using Black Tied and Idol Eyes to add shimmer and dimension to the overall look. After applying your basic black eyeshadow, pat Black Tied to the centre of the lid and blend outward. Use Idol Eyes in the inner corner of the eye to add sparkle.
Quo Lashes. They have single clusters, short and natural strips, and super long and flirty strips (like I used on Ai). Experiment - they are fake after all! And reusable! Be sure to buy yourself the proper lash adhesive (they are different for single clusters and strips).
Happy Shopping!
